Why sing?

I love to sing and love to help people enjoy singing as much as I do!  My lessons cover the basics of breath support, pitch control, vocal range development, and confidence with performance.  I truly believe that almost everybody can sing, and it's just a matter of knowing how your voice works and developing the muscle memory and control in order to sound fantastic!  Although I'm classically trained, I specialize in musical theater and jazz, but have taught everything from classic rock to indie folk to country.  My focus as a teacher is on correct usage of the voice through warmups, vocal range expansion and the building and development of vocal repertoire.

Lessons

Coaching/

Audition Prep

Lessons are 45 minutes (30 minutes for students under 10), and include  warm ups, range development, and repertoire building.  The majority of my students are beginner or intermediate singers, and have varying levels of musical theory knowledge.  I love to perform and build song repertoire, so in lessons, I work to overcome any weaknesses in the voice (breaks, range development, consistency in sound through different octaves, etc) through the songs that we choose to sing.  I believe everyone has the ability to sing, and as long as you make a personal commitment to learning, you can grow exponentially as a vocalist!

I am available for audition coaching (both vocal and acting) for all ages.  I have worked with elementary and middle school students for performing art middle and high school auditions (LaGuardia, Mark Twain, PPAS, Midwood, Sinatra, Talent Unlimited, Brooklyn HS of the Arts, etc); high schoolers looking to bolster their college auditions; professional and community performers for local auditions.

Location

I am located in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn (easily accesible via the R and F trains, or a 12 minute walk from Atlantic/Barclays Center) and teach lessons out of my home. In-home lessons can also be arranged for an additional fee, as long as there is a piano or keyboard on premises.  Please feel free to contact me for more information about rates and location!
